When beginning a new project, I like to start by gauging a client’s general taste and style preferences before we even talk about color and trends. I want to focus on the overall design, not what’s hot on social media.

Keep your finishes classic and neutral; even big-ticket items should be enduring. Then fill in the rest using items that make you smile and depict who you are and what you enjoy.

Keeping a book of tear outs and pictures of what you like and don’t like can keep you focused on the end results.
